Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
CrossPost ("the app", "we", "us") lets you upload a video or photo once and publish it to the social media accounts you choose to connect — currently YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and (optionally) X. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Information we collect
- Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture to identify your CrossPost account.
- Connected platform accounts: when you connect a YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, or X account, we store that platform's account ID, your display name/handle, and the access token (and refresh token, where the platform provides one) needed to publish content on your behalf.
- Content you upload: the video or photo files, titles, and captions you submit to be published, including any AI-generated caption variations you create and edit.
- Upload/job status: the status of each publishing attempt (queued, uploading, published, failed), timestamps, and a link to the resulting post once published.
How we use this information
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in to CrossPost.
- To publish the videos and photos you upload to the specific platform accounts you connect and select, using each platform's official API.
- To show you the status and history of your uploads.
- To email you, using the address on your Google account, when a scheduled post has finished publishing or failed, or when one of your connected accounts needs to be reconnected. You can turn these emails off at any time with the notifications switch in the app.
- Where you use the AI caption feature, your video's title/caption is sent to Anthropic's API to generate platform-tailored caption suggestions, which you review and can edit before anything is published.
How we share information
We do not sell your data. Your content is shared only with the platforms you explicitly connect and choose to publish to (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X), strictly to carry out the publishing action you requested, via each platform's official API. We don't share your data with any other third party, aside from the AI provider (Anthropic) used solely to generate caption text when you use that feature, and our email delivery provider, which handles your email address solely to send the notifications described above.
Data storage and retention
- Account and connected-account information is stored for as long as your account or that connection remains active.
- Uploaded video and photo files are temporarily stored on our server and automatically deleted once all of that upload's publishing jobs have finished (published or failed).
- Photos are converted to JPEG and any embedded metadata, including GPS location, is removed before they are stored or published.
- Where a platform (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Threads) requires the media to be hosted at a public URL to publish it, a copy is also stored in our cloud object storage. That copy is deleted automatically a few hours after all of the upload's publishing jobs have finished (the short delay lets the platform finish fetching the file), and immediately if you delete your account.
- Access and refresh tokens for your connected accounts are encrypted at rest and transmitted only over HTTPS. Instagram and Threads tokens are refreshed automatically so your connection keeps working.
- If you remove CrossPost from your Instagram, Facebook or Threads account settings, or ask Meta to delete your data, we automatically delete the corresponding connected account and its stored token.
Your rights
You can disconnect any connected platform account at any time from within the app, which immediately deletes that account's stored access tokens. You can also delete your entire CrossPost account from within the app ("Delete my account" / "Delete account"), which removes everything we hold about you. See our Data Deletion Instructions for details.
Children's privacy
CrossPost is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, children under 13.
